I don't like the religion vs. feminism debates. Feminism is a flawed ideology, and that can be pointed out in debate. They always shut down the feminist points without use of their own religion (because made-up crap doesn't prove anything), and then go ahead and try to stick their BS in afterward. Just because proponents of other flawed ideologies can point out feminism's flaws, that doesn't get society anywhere when they try to substitute them with their own. It's like debating over whether the universe is heliocentric or geocentric, both views are outdated.

Sounds fishy to me. However I am not well versed on the subject and there's plenty I don't know.

While I agree with the sentiment that religion isn't great, I also have to say 2 minutes out of 14 minutes devoted to religious belief is not too much religion! She makes some very good points.

Just a note. Fundamentalist islam is mysoginistic. Moderate islam is not. Think of what the world was like for a christian women 500 years ago or even 200 years ago. It wasn't pretty. Christianity also has its dark past and misogynistic verses in the bible.

There were secular islamic countries like afghanistan before the taliban and the russians, or Iran, before during the time of mohammed mossadegh or the shah. We should never have supported a coup there.

Fuck this shit. It's less than worthless, and I mean FAR less, to bring religious philosophy into any discussion regarding rights of groups or individuals. Religion, particularly when it's the dominant political force, exist to facilitate easy control of a population, and little more.

Okay, she made a lot of good points. Standard "critique of feminism" points, but cool nonetheless.

However... she really should have rested her case after making those points. Her commentary regarding her own personal rosy vision of islam dilutes the message of the previous ten minutes of the video to just about nothing.

Less than worthless.
