I think Jezebel readers are more upset that a dad is being assertive than anything else. I think they prefer the father either kicked out of the home or an obedient pawn to all female family members.

Okay, I confess. I read the full Jezebel article, and this is what I found,

It's about his feelings about women, impropriety, watching his daughter grow up and become autonomous or sexual, and not wanting that to happen or not wanting it to happen yet, or not wanting it to happen like this or whatever, insert dad fear here.

Aren't that what dads are supposed to do. Care about their children's well being? Not wanting their 13 year old daughters to be sleeping around? Making sure his kids have self-respect?

Jezebel, trying being a dad to a teenage girl. No seriously, try it. I'd love to see what would happen.

First his 13 year old girl can't dress like a slut, next she'll be forced to wear a burkah by the time she's 16. WHY WON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS IS OPPRESSION! Yes. There's a fundamental contradiction on the part of Jezebel feminists here. Women dressing as sex objects = female power, therefore GOOD. But men treating women as sex objects = BAD.

The truth is, male shame = female power and both these tropes exercise torque over men, especially when applied together. This is true of traditionalism as much as feminism. This is a case of feminism becoming patriarchal, by its own definitions.

I can't think of a better, more fair way for a father to send the following message

"Yes, you may wear whatever you please, no this does not mean there will be no consequences to your wardrobe."

Ah, but Jezebel doesn't think men should be able to wear whatever they want for whatever reason, which is my favorite irony.
