Hiya, my first post in here (not sure if this should be on the reference forum, do they take requests?), so be gentle!

As far as I know, Patriarchy Theory is an established (albeit unpopular?) thing in some part of the scientific community, so I was wondering if anyone could furnish me with some (preferably academic) counter reading or more popular/established theories.

Most of what I see about Patriarchy is one side blindly swearing by it, and the other refuting it, but rarely see any unbiased criticisms or academic sources against it. Personally I don't think Patriarchy is a thing in society, or at the very least not to the extent claimed, but this is just my opinion, need some juicy facts to flesh out my thoughts on the subject.

Even if you only know the title of a study/book that's okay, should be able to access it with my Uni library search, thanks in advance!

Also interested in studies in support of Patriarchy if anyone has any of those lying around, thanks for reading!

Oh, would also love to have some discussion on the topic, so feel free to comment away!

TL;DR: If you've some academic studies/books/things on patriarchy or relevant/alternative theories please share! Thanks!

Edit: Patriarchy (lit. Rule of the fathers), is a social system in which men hold the central positions of power in a society, and correspondingly have greater social status than females. Patriarchy Theory is the feminist application of this idea, maintaining that those (men) in positions of power are using that to discriminate against women for their personal gain, and the betterment of males in society. Just my definition as I understood it from googling a few places here and there, any challenges welcome!
