Memo to sexual grievance industry about the Edmonton posters: Can you understand why the community of the wrongly accused is pissed when even mentioning false claims elicits over-the-top outrage and name-calling?

They don't understand it, and probably can't understand it. In their mind, we are shitting on their parade. They want to have their slut walks and take back the nights and beat their drums and have total validation fests where they congratulate one another and themselves for nothing at all. MR's arrival rains on that parade and says "Hey, good for your feelz and shit, but there are other things to do". Ever see how viciously people respond when you inform them that they haven't really done anything to earn the accolades that they're heaping on themselves? See the LOTR scene where Bilbo does that quick change into a gollum like creature for a split second. "MINE! MY FEELZ! MINE! ME PRECIOUS!" That's what's going on.

And then there's the money trail. Administrative jobs, cross industry networking and business deals, schmoozing opportunity, grants, scholarships, pro bono services. All for pursuing their own self interest over a job that provides a service to others. MINE! MY FEELZ! MY DESK JOB! MY AD CAMPAIGN! MY DINNER WITH SUSAN SARANDON! MINE! THEY'RE MINE!

that is what goes on. And that is why they don't really get it. Just like corporate big wigs who don't comprehend that by choosing to make money off the misfortune of others perpetuates that misfortune, all they see is what they get out of it for themselves and loathe anyone who challenges their access to MOAR!

The first thing I thought about when I saw the poster was... Pictured: A African American and Latino male stealing a tv out of a house with below captions saying "Don't be THAT brown person."... I found the original "Don't be THAT guy." poster equally offensive.

Personally, I completely understand why, when your attempt to raise awareness of false rape accusations (not something I disagree with in principle) undermines and mocks successful rape prevention campaigns and perpetuate myths that contribute to the culture in which police consistently assume that entirely valid accusations are false, people would be angry about the Edmonton posters.
