It's almost like past generations praised the providers for working hard to maintain not just a household, and a society, whereas today's providers are booed and forced to be ashamed.

Best username EVER. XD Pretty good fuckin' point too, sir. :)

Get drunk, have a one night stand, if she decides to be a mum, you now have to work to pay for her choice for the next 18 years 🎉🎉🎉

If that happened to me, I’d probably just stay at home and loose myself in computer games too rather than flogging my guts out in a dangerous job to fund someone’s lifestyle.

I'd go to jail happily.

Food there can't be worse than the pain of not being able to feed myself AND no additional women can ever come for my money or make false accusations.

[–]Zero5045 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Former CO: food is horrible. Average cost per tray runs about $1.20 US. COs eat the same food as inmates. Inmates make it up in snacks but if you owe child support they will take it out of your funds if you have any or have someone placing money in your account. Most inmates find a friend who owes nothing and have family place funds into their account and buy through them.

The incentive to make money off the books is greater than ever right now, and with the crack down on illegal immigration and explosion of medical/recreational marijuana (while being illegal to bank with proceeds from it) it's easier than ever too.

[–]RingosTurdFace 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Fair points. Can’t calculate child maintenance payments on that letting you save something up for your kid later in life rather than paying for it’s mother to have some new clothes.

[–]PMmepicsofyourtits 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Imagine if all child support went into an account that the kid gets at age 20. It'd be one hell of a kickstart.

The graphic you have after your first sentence looks like a sigil for one of the outer gods.

Why have women been so much more responsive to the change in labor demand than men?

No, it's that employers are hiring women instead of men, because they are women. Men are facing increasing employment discrimination in the name of diversity and gender norming.

The most obvious reason is that most of the women counted as not being in the labor force are still working, usually taking care of kids or elderly relatives. That is, they are generally ready and able to do paid work -- and if the pay is good enough, they can hire somebody else to take care of the kids or Mom or Dad. Men not in the labor force constitute a smaller, much more troubled group. Stronger labor demand will lure some of them back, but it may have to stay strong for a long, long time to reverse much of the decades-long decline in male labor-force participation.

Maybe if employers used some archaic ideas like hiring the best person for the job instead of hiring the best woman for the job?

Maybe if employers used some archaic ideas like hiring the best person for the job instead of hiring the best woman for the job?

Oh, no... We can't have that. Studies show that when employers use metrics like "best for the job", the number of women getting hired plummets. And, we just can't have that. /s

[–]StatingTheObvious989 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yea ill just keep working to pay for everyone else to duff off. I wonder why morale is lower than ever.

[–]Neko404 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can’t even begin to imagine why? I mean could it be that the majority of those men are white and people like Mrs. Gates actively discriminate against them? Why be in a rush to jump into the meat grinder when you know things are stacked against you?

[–]ArchVileRespawned 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, get back to work guys! The empowered single moms need your money! Also check your privilege and go fuck yourself!

[–]freddydangerface 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I fit in the category of "looking for work" but I don't know how I would be counted in this statistic. Is it people who file for unemployment?

[–]revenueperadventure 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes. You’re correct. If are receiving unemployment, you classify as looking for work. If you are not receiving unemployment and are not employed, you are not in the labor force.

[–]Allevil669 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Which is how they come up with that misleading "4%" unemployment rate.

[–]iongantas 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Which is why that method of calculation of unemployment is complete hogwash. In the last five years I have never not needed a job, but by that metric, there was some period in which I was "not in the workforce".

[–]thrway_1000 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wonder why.

Fuck Baby Boomers. Fuck their self-fulfilling sophomoric prejudices against men of my generation and paternalistic worship of and discrimination in favor of women who want to work.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

got your wage gap right here... female labor force participation rate is 15 percentage points lower than male labor force participation rate

"2. Men have worse things to do"

Worse for WHO? I think devoting more time to things I enjoy, trivial as they may appear to be to observers, is a much BETTER thing to do than breaking my back to make some rich assholes even richer and getting a pittance for it.

Houses in my neighborhood are cheap, especially one that only needs to house a single man and his cat, and maybe a couple more pets later on. Why buy something bigger if I'd have to work so much to pay for it that I'd never have time to enjoy it? To impress some shallow gold-digger? To put a free roof over an ungrateful spouse and kids that there's a 50/50 chance the court would kick me out of some day?

Fuck. That.

[–]TruthGetsBanned 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

HEY MAN!!

Take your perfectly reasonable and well thought out actions given the shitty choices forced on you and GTFO of here. /s

[–]xNOM 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Um, "1. Men have better things to do." ?

[–]SnapesEvilTwin 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Um, yeah, I read the article.

What I took issue with was their idea of "better" and "worse" things to do. It's not that I was too stupid to read to rest of the fucking list.

[–]TheImpossible1 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's because any woman applying will beat you to it anyway.

[–]revenueperadventure 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would imagine a large part of the perceived lack of labor force participation is entrepreneurial / freelance / consulting work. Does anyone know how that is counted if the consultant is not running a payroll in his / her business?
