Conversely, I think humans are wired in a way that they can overcome their natural programming.

We're humans. We adapt, overcome, survive. We've done away with many baser instincts, this should be no different.

Treating humans as nothing more than animals is an excuse for bad behavior, and I won't have it.

I resist going with that narrative. Men and social attitudes vary quite a bit.

I think we are entering a stage where we are getting around to caring for men. It's been a long journey over the last 500 years or so as democracy at a core level has embedded itself in our thinking.

Just look at recent changes with gay and trans Rights in America. With changing attitudes toward animal rights, toward women and children.

It's changing fast, but history does take time to unfold.

In the grander scheme of all things living and dead, time brings extinction as the rule, with evolution as the exception.

Yet every species tries to survive irrespective of the odds against them. That's life. A constant battle to survive. Every living organism is expendable - but also programmed to try to survive anyway.

Yes but if we allow meritocracy then men naturally Flourish. The problem is our society not only disdains men but also stacks the deck against their success.

We have lots of systems that are designed to overcome our natural biological failings. Science is a good example of a system that takes account of our natural biases and creates a method that compensates for them.

This is why egalitarianism is more promising. Instead of explicitly asking people to care about men's rights, you trick them into granting men's rights via framing them as equal rights. I.e. instead of saying "men should have <right x> that women have", you say "everyone should have <right x>"

I have a great book for you to read that makes some of the points you have brought up. It is on audio and also print. It shows how man are the disposable sex and how when men complain society sees it as annoying.

The first chapter is about healthy communication between the sexes, but it then dives into other areas of why men are looked at as disposable

This may have its roots in evolution. Women are more important to maintenance of the population of a species than men.

However, it's not necessarily a losing battle. People's mindset can be changed.
