Same idea applies to anything that's needed for a marriage to survive and thrive. Men want things from their women and women need things from their men. This is explained in the linked post.

Conversely, men need to be needed and women need to be wanted. When a man needs a women, she'll become disgusted with his neediness. When a woman wants - but doesn't need - her man, he'll feel useless in the relationship. There's no point of him being there if he isn't needed.

Not everyone can articulate these concepts, but the underlying fundamentals are there nonetheless. This is why so many women express the quoted sentiment. That's why it's always a turnoff to men.

Being a single pregnant woman sounds dreadful. Just imagine having the baby at the hospital and coming home on your own as well. Nobody's there to help you, or fix you dinner, anything. Every issue the baby has, it's on you and you only. Oh, and you also have to think about your own issues and how you're going to pay all the bills. She can say all she wants she doesn't need a man, but I think anyone in this situation would be glad to have a life partner.
