I think actually the data shows men are generally less depressed at the beginning of a breakup (or in your case a divorce) and then after around 8 months they begin to feel more depressed, and women tend to be the opposite (really depressed at first and then feel better after around 8 months). I’m not sure you should take social media to mean anything- I don’t use social media at all but I am perfectly happy with my life, in fact I don’t use social media because I don’t need other people to validate my choices and existence with likes lol? Maybe she feels the same way? Also why would you block the mother of your child? Please for your kids sake don’t be nasty to each other, seeing parents divorce and hate each other is terrible for a kids development.

Obviously you guys could be the exception but generally I find this to be true as a woman. Break ups hurt like hell for the first few months and crying all the time, and that is when I am most likely to use social media to make me seem like I don’t care, then when I actually feel better after a few months I went back to not using it at all and no regrets over the breakup

a study comes up very often in here that shows that male divorcees remarry faster and more often than their female counterparts. that would go against your premise.

imo it depends on the individual and how reliant they were on their marriage.

Anecdotally, men get depressed and mourn for about a year to 2 years, and then they tend to recover and start looking after themselves.

Although over the decades, this has changed to them going to the gym during to fiasco and that has definitely shortened the mourning phase.

Disappearing from social media doesn’t mean you’re unhappy. Some people really just aren’t into it. In any case if you have her blocked, how are seeing what she posts? Most social media sites when you block someone, you’re also blocked from seeing what they post.

I can say my experience was the opposite . Was able to obtain a education , become financially independent , No regrets , especially financially ,and have a better husband in my life now. Much better life after divorcing my first husband . 💁 Back ground first marriage Married at 17 highschool sweethearts . Preacher son, we had our first son when I was 19 , second son when I was 20 . However he couldn't keep a job or function as a responsible adult cause he decided to try opiates, and that became his obsession. After years of going back and forth with counseling within the church with no success , I stepped away from the situation. By the time I had physically left was already mentally prepared. So yeah I believe it when men say women are already mentally checked out before they physically check out.

Have you considered that you may have been in an unhappy (maybe even emotionally abusive) marriage and that getting out of that would immediately help you feel better?

I don't know your life, but it already sounds like your relationship wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
