I thought I would share this here. It's a mass collection of movies, tv shows and books that will warn you if there's sexual assault, rape, incest etc in it. You can search by any title and they are ranked green, yellow or red by severity, and a checklist and short descriptions of graphic scenes.

The statistics are pretty depressing. But I hope it is of use to someone here.

Literally the only show I've seen that handles rape well is Jessica Jones. The only flashbacks we get in the first season are of Kilgrave emotionally abusing and controlling Jessica. We know that she was raped but the show only ever alludes to it and never shows it (despite not shying away from showing a quite graphic consensual sex scene with Luke Cage). The focus is on Jessica's PTSD and shows how serious and long-term the psychological effects can be on the victim. The show never tries to make us sympathize with Kilgrave or question Jessica's version of events.

I also appreciate how Jessica's character isn't defined by what Kilgrave did to her. Flashbacks of her character before she met him show that she always had some hard prickly edges to her character and she was carrying her own emotional pain before he came into her life.

Every other show I've seen is a dumpster fire when it comes to handling rape and sexual abuse. I quit watching Outlander and Game of Thrones out of sheer disgust.
