Patriarchy in popular discourse is so poorly defined its a useless term beyond signaling. There are academic formulations that are good, particularly from Black studies and Black male studies, where primary functions of patriarchy include the elimination/suppression of out-group men and the protection of in-group women, and that acknowledge the role in-group women play in creating and promoting patriarchy. Kill their men and subjugate their women is a tale as old as war, and is the starting basis for any decent patriarchal framework. Most men's issues fit inside such frameworks just fine.

I don't really agree with this analogy. I hate the word patriarchy but we must understand feminsts use it to say "a system where most positions of power are held by men and men are prioritized over women". So there's nothing really inherent in this definition which says men can't be systematically harmed. I think "patriarchy" is absolutely stupid for other reasons but we should be on point with our attacks.

That is what makes it so hard to find a genuine open minded non-misandristic men's rights activist and supporter. The amount of Liberals and Feminists who claim themselves to be an advocates for men's rights then go on to say 'Men are also victims of the Patriarchy'. It makes you wanna slam your head on a desk.

Feminists don't care about fairness, or even equality. If they now have an advantage in anything, it's making up for centuries of "oppression". Even when they've reached parity, it's not enough.

I agree that women have societal advantages and not all male disadvantages are caused by ' the patriarchy'. But this is taking things to an absurd extreme.

I think the only way it makes sense is that one man's control perpetuates another man's suffering, like alpha males regulating the idea of what it means to be a man, which involves ideas that are more destructive to other men who don't have the resources to become that. One man at the top may say that being a man is all about money, power, women, etc., thus a man not able to have these things have to suffer the consequences of "not being a man." Just a guess though.

That said, women do have a lot of privilege, possibly because of the idea that women are always expected to be the victims. Therefore, people don't see what they have, but what they don't have. Their glass maybe be damn near full, but people only notice that there's still empty space. I will say that, also, society today seems to expect men to understand the hardships of women, though women ignore any that men have.
