My friends called me sexist for saying women's soccer isn't as good as men's

In the UK we have a policy of trying to push women's football on TV. It can be interesting to watch as a close game can be exciting whatever the level but the standard is so poor. It is at a good schoolboy/mens pub team level which if the game is not close or there are not many chances makes it horrible to watch on national TV. Excruciatingly poor play by the best women's teams in the recent world cup made it all farcical with commentators desperately avoiding criticising the most basic errors which occcured frequently.

Because they played only one time. I don't think those boys have any problem with another match. I do know why women soccer team won't play with them ever again.

Have y’all ever noticed the second a woman or women’s team builds up some level of momentum in their sport, they and/or the media and/or the general populace automatically start assuming they could possibly beat a man who is also professional in that sport. Ronda Rousey before getting her head kicked in by Holly Holm was issuing challenges to Floyd Maywether Jr. even saying “I wonder how Floyd would feel being beat by a girl” or something along those lines. But then the actual games happen when they do and we see a top level women’s national soccer team lose to a 14 y/o boys team or the 203rd ranked player in the world beating both Williams sisters in one day while smoking and drinking during the match. And let’s not forget that before Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs, Riggs beat the number one ranked women’s tennis player in the world.

The game is not at fast that is for sure. The goals that are scored tend to be a bit tame. Women soccer is OK but it is usually not top class football. It is still a competition between two sides so it can be quite enjoyable.

When women's sides have played men's the women have always lost.

If the game was realistic relative to the male players, they'd complain. And no one would play with the female teams, and they'd complain.

Realistically, the most professional women's team could barely compete in the Conference league, no comparable pace, no comparable aerial ability, no comparable power. But the idea isn't to make it real, but to generate the support and fandom so no one can complain about the whole viewership and money thing

The US Men's team (which is not that great) would annihilate the US Women's team that just won the world cup. It would not even be a contest. Anyone who disagrees with that is either just being liberal and PC or they really are very ignorant about the sport and athletics in general.

Women's sports are not anywhere near competitive level of a male equivalent of the sport.

And like others said...the best way to handle this argument with someone is to very simply state that if women athletes are just as superior as male athletes, why aren't they on the male teams? If Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, and Abby Wambach are such phenomenal superstar athletes just as good as any man, why aren't they on the men's team?

The problem is that this type of thing is purely subjective. I enjoy watching both equally. However, that does not mean someone that thinks that it's not as good is sexist. Women's NBA is not as good IMO as Men's. Not sexist.

Last time I checked, most women national teams were in like the 50-60 overall range. None of them were that good.

Just as an aside - the women’s national team does not play younger age men’s teams ever.

Why? Because there is way too much risk of injury. Absolutely, the women’s team will use very good guy players to practice against on specific drills. Why? Because guys are bigger and faster and if you can work successfully against a bigger/faster opponent then you can probably do well against smaller/slower opponents. It does not occur all that often because usually when the women’s team is practicing they will have sufficient players in camp to do everything the coaches want to do. And, again, if you are going to use guys in a practice you need them to be very good and everyone has to know the rules. If a guy made a bad tackle on Morgan and she blew an ACL there would be hell to pay. Not how any coach would want to lose their job.

So - does not happen.
