There are many more factors at play than having it just be a "yes" or "no"... is she already married? Is she fucking one of my friends already? Is she pretty but expresses resentful views towards men? Any of those 3 would disqualify her.

Anyway, I'd take the next step based on how I felt about her. There are definitely female friends that I wouldn't want to sleep with, just as there are some I'd try. I don't think a girl has to be uniquely unattractive to be a no-go for me, just not my type. Also the dynamics of the friendship, her personality, etc would obviously play a role.

Do some guys only have women in their lives that they'd bang on a dime? Sure. But not all men. Basically, the friend zone isn't bullshit per se, but it's definitely at least partially self-selected.

If she’s a true friend, I would not want to sleep with her. She would be a friend for a reason, and sexual companionship would not be one of them. If she was a “friend” where we’re both attracted to each other then I would consider it.

But a lot of them are tied into broader friend groups. So, the only thing that would hold me back is how it would impact that group dynamic.

Dude here. Been on this position a lot in my youth. Being older now it depends. When I was younger I didnt care and would have done it and did do it no question.

Now its trickier because you have to consider if you work together, if shes hitting that late 20s/early 30s baby rabbies biological clock zone, if she will be expecting a relationship or maybe you might expect one and dmshe may just be DTF, maybe shes just exercising her power seeing you get with someone else and was hiding her feelings for awhile but wants to take a chance now, does she have kids and sees you as a dad figure, have you been friends a long time and does she figure it's just a way to make you stick around cuz her kids like you, maybe she knows shes getting older and theres not many better options so why not settle for you. It can get a little trickier if you're really friends and never saw her that way when you're older.

But under 30. For sure why not. As long as shes hot and even then meh most guys would unless shes just bat shit crazy problematic or is just overwhelming overweight/just not attractive.

I'd find it pretty weird if we are long time friends, most likely would say no, if it's a woman in my social circle, but we don't know each other that well and she's attractive why not.

I've had female friends I wasn't attracted to. And my best friend now is probably an ex, and we already know we aren't sexually compatible (yes, that's a real thing kids). And I've had women get romantic when they were absolutely hammered, which you must decline (unless you're hammered too? I'm not sure how that works). I have some f friends that it would be intriguing to explore something physical with but it's no big deal either way (an answer guaranteed to piss off absolutists on both sides).
