The whole reason a sub like this exists is because men and woman are different. We are biologically different. We are culturally different. We gravitate towards different things. We have different wants and desires.

A healthy society would celebrate these differences and treat them as complimentary. Ying and Yang. Being different and having different interests and expectations based on these differences is not necessarily a bad thing.

Often though these differences are demonised and we seem to be living in a culture of victimhood where one side obsessively points out how the other is being repressed and that the opposing gender constantly participates in double standards and hypocrisies…. but never seems to acknowledge when things actually work the other way around.

  • High body count woman are repulsive whores. High body count men are attractive studs.
  • Female virgins are virtuous wife material. Male virgins are socially inept weirdo’s.
  • A man’s money is theirs. A woman’s money is hers.
  • Men being sent to war. Woman and children first ect…
  • Body positivity only extending to woman
  • Domestic workload and child rearing expectations falling on woman even when both partners are working similar hours
  • Woman assaulting men is funny. Men assaulting woman is barbaric
  • Stay at home Dad’s are pathetic. Stay at home Mum’s are doing the hardest job in the world.
  • Woman dominating academia= Not sexism
  • Men dominating STEM and financial sectors= Sexism
  • Men dominating the most undesirable and dangerous jobs in society= Not sexism
  • Male athletes being paid more than Woman: Sexism
  • Female models being paid more than men: Not Sexism

This is just a small list of double standards and hypocrisies often bought up in gender discussions.

My questions is not whether double standards exist-they clearly do-but when they are and aren’t justified? When should either side feel legitimately aggrieved and when is it just a consequence of the inherent genetic differences between the sexes.

For example Men can cry about Woman’s obsession with height and how it’s a ridiculous standard to have in a post industrial society where height holds little utility…but Woman simply can’t help what hundreds of thousands of years of evolution has hardwired into them in terms of what they find attractive.

Similarly woman can bitch and moan about Men’s obsession with body counts and chastity and how in an age of birth control and paternity testing it makes no logical sense…but Men simply can’t help what hundreds of thousands of years of evolution has hardwired into them in terms of what they find attractive.

Just because a double standard exists doesn’t mean it is always rooted in sexism.

Or does it?

What do you think?
