My understanding is that no fault divorce came on the books in the US in the 80s, and that resulted in a cash cow for attorneys and an eternal pissing match between Man and Woman.

I'll assume as most things, are created to protect and serve.

And in a time divorce grew, the laws were mostly to protect the women who werent working, and usually stuck with the kids. Whats to prevent a man from just leaving them to starve and starting over?

But yeah, it deffinetly needs a rework for modern society

One thing that I don't like about u.s. laws is how much money you save by getting married.

We can’t just say, “Well it was the Divorce Mongler who created Divorce! That rat bastard! Always mongling on my divorces,” because it wasn’t just anyone one thing that influenced divorce law.

I’d imagine that Christianity was a big influence/road block for divorce law in the US, but you also have the trope of the “poor single mother,” which perpetuates the myth that women suffer more fiscally in a divorce than men.
