I have a very high sex drive, but was celibate till I met my now-husband—it’s a matter of sticking to what’s best for you in the long run rather than giving in to a detrimental, fleeting pleasure. It’s like junk food when you’re trying to lose weight—if you decide to eat it, it actively sabotages your goal. Obviously you still desire the junk food, but you need to want your goal more.

Nothing is going to be as good as sex, because sex is meant to pair bond us and get us as humans to have children. So sex toys and a physical outlet (working out or sports) is going to have to tide you over if you’re serious about your goal.

Also, INFO, why do you need to be financially stable in order to date? And why a year long hiatus?

I have a low sex drive so celibacy is easy peasy for me but I used to still feel “in the mood” once a month bc of ovulation. Ever since I started working out consistently, my sex drive no longer exists. I no longer have sexual thoughts or urges. Maybe working out can help lower your sex drive.

I also recommend staying away from sexual content in general since that can trigger temptation sometimes.
