Opening a door, helping with heavy things, and other such niceities don't have to be sexist you know. Its not that women like that these men are being sexist its just that they like being helped and youre for some reason assuming this must be a sexist action. Even if women DID think this was sexist that doesnt mean that that is the part they were attracted to. The study you cite even points this out with this passage:

We found that strong feminists rated men as more patronizing and undermining than traditional women did. But like the other women, they still found these men more attractive; the drawbacks were outweighed by the men’s willingness to invest.

This is saying that this was attractive not because of the potential sexism but in spite of it. If a man was willing to be helpful without any sexism on top of it that would be even better. The sexism isn't what is attractive.

Men are so desperate to get laid they’ll buy women’s used bathwater and hit on any and all women in every conceivable circumstance (or so I’m told by men), so why wouldn’t they adopt a strategy that’s 100% successful?

The issue with this article and your interpretation of it are vastly different - so i’ll try to break this down

I’ll start with the term “benevolent sexism” and why, most times, its BS:

There is a level of natural, biological gender roles and a lot of which have to do with things that fundamentally fit our hormonal and physical standing. Something like wanting to protect a woman or help her, for example, is not inherently sexist - neither is things like believing women are more compassionate, more generally aesthetically pleasing or even a level of doing things for them (ex. opening the door for a woman, helping her with a heavy box and so on) - sure, while neither of these things are inherently tied to gender roles, the psychology is all there; ie. women are generally better in the emotional/intuitive world and men are generally in the physical world (and that’s not a knock on anyone, you need a balance between both to function as a society) - and note the ‘generally’ meaning that this isn’t a rule that applies to everyone.

Now, it can become sexist when the man does all these things because he views women as less capable and wants to infantilize them - but a lot of that goes down to intention which tends to come out in different ways.

As for why your interpretation is all wrong too:

Fact is, the majority of people like feeling like they’re physically and emotionally in tune - and often that means having a partner make you feel a certain way - ie. a man doing these things for a woman makes her feel “like a woman” and the man feels “like a man”, you feel a sense of harmony because you exist in the space you find fitting yourself. This isn’t “sexism that favors women” this is simply a psychological play of biological gender roles.

Now, you’re probably gonna misinterpret things and say “so what you’re saying is, women like sexist men” and no - many women like men who can make them feel like they’re flowing in their feminine role, and men like women who make them feel like they’re fitting into their most masculine state. There is obviously a level where it can get unhealthy and backfire, though that’s where things like understanding similarities/differences all come in, giving each individual a base level of respect and expectations and only act as invited to while not invading the other’s space (and to be clear, when i say “invited to” i don’t mean a literal verbal invite and i don’t mean “space” literally)

i dont know that the idea of benevolent sexism being associated with malevolent sexism is established, but lets suppose its true. i dont think this means anything about feminists and gaslighting. people can be a little dumb sometimes and not put 2 and 2 together. they get roped by the benevolence and miss the sexism. not everyone is 200iq and woke, including feminists.

i dont think this should surprise anyone though. i struggle to understand how anyone who has any semblance of interactions with women can be redpilled or blackpilled. like you really have to be deep in your own head to draw those conclusions. so the fact that some feminists didnt spot the trap isnt surprising.

Modern women are heavily conflicted because they been lied to , they don't even know what they want and if they do they won't admit it because women are more inclined to survive and adapt no matter what
