To show just how entrenched this stuff is - remember when the US women's soccer team pulled this? Well, right after that, an article pointed out the four highest paid US female players all made more than the highest paid US male player. I figured, well, that will kill that. BUT IT DID NOT STOP IT AT ALL!!! They're still talking about the US female team's fight for equal pay. lol

How do sports teams operate? They aren't publicly funded.

Sports teams that excel at their sport are sponsored by companies to advertise their brands and products. It just so happens that men dominate sports due to our biological advantage.

You don't see male models demanding equal pay as the top women's models, even though women dominate modeling due to women's biological advantage.

If you want to pay players equally, that's fine IMO, but expect the lengths that professional athletes go to for their job to drop dramatically. It's called rewarding merit, and a lot of people don't seem to understand what that is.

There's nothing wrong with socialism, but don't expect the naturally advantaged to push themselves to their limit for tasks that can be completed by average performance. Some people will struggle where others can accomplish the same tasks with ease. If you work 10 hours a day because that's your comfortable limit, that's fine. If your coworker only works 6 hours a day because that's their comfortable limit, that's fine too. But if you're rewarding merit, there has to be some sort of measure. Whether that's quantified by paying employees hourly or advancing top performers faster is up to the business.

There's just no normalizing biology. People are so different that our recommended vitamin intake changes over the course of our lives. There is no one size fits all diet, there is no effective exercise for "everyone", there is no one-size-fits-all clothing.

You can lower the barrier to entry on many things to make it more "fair" for differently abled people, but you have to realize that when you have a system with 8+ billion unique inputs, you're going to have more than a handful of unique outputs.

Narrowing people down to a single group is reductionist, absurd, and too broad for any statistical significance. The same is true with pay. IMO, doctors and teachers should make more than entertainers, due to merit. And even then, the best doctors and best teachers should be rewarded for outstanding in their field. Removing meritocracy from economics isn't even communism, it's just stupid.

Just make all competitions open. Close sex-segregated leagues. Make the EFL and the Premier League open to male and female players, and let every player naturally end up where their abilities take them, with commensurate pay.

If a woman plays at a Premiership standard, she deserves Premiership level pay. If she plays at a League Two standard, she deserves League Two pay.

Any of these "world class" players should surely support this, unless there's something they'd rather not admit.

For me it has nothing to do with which team could win.

The England women's team have played brilliantly this world Cup and I have been very entertained watching them.

Their pay, however, should be based on revenue, just like the men's. Ticket and merch sales are what make the money they are paid, when they bring in the same or more than the men's team they should be paid the same or more than the men's team.

We can get into equal pay and who deserves what and are you really equal if teenagers beat you and so on .

However we overlook the one and most important details, THE MATH. If, for example, the men's team gets 10% of total profits and the women get 10% as well, the men still make more because the profits generated by the men is greater than the women.
