I’ve been applying for jobs in the last 4 months and I’ve noticed this trend of having zero to no chance of getting hired for HR or office jobs that aren’t technical.
It usually goes like this: they’ll interview me (ALWAYS women, imagine the drama if women were interviewed only by men), they usually don’t bother to provide any updates after or before the interview and they proceed to hire another woman because diversity = little to no men in their spaces unless they need someone to do the work they don’t want to do.
Interestingly, I’ve noticed that male recruiters and HR in general would provide personal updates on my application.
Something I’ve noticed when I lived in a small town, is that it doesn’t really matter what are your skills, whether you gossip and whether you’re being an ass to other employees. As long as you have a pretty face and voice, you’ll have stable employment and even if not, it doesn’t really matter anyway. You can go be a stay home wife/mom at any time. Men making money by actually doing the work, wife does the paperwork or some shit like that. And if you aren’t physically capable, you’re thrown out straight to garbage.
I think the same thing happens to LGBT men or born male people a lot, although it’s been a little better with all the push from the media. Still, I’d argue that HR, all the people being paid more than they give back, they’ve been silently opposing LGBT male born individuals and men they don’t like from any meaningful positions, leadership etc.. it’s jarring just how little has changed in the real world.
