Hello everyone.

I’ve been a long time lurker, and first time poster. Yadda yadda; I’ll get right to it.

My ex girlfriend happens to work as a psychiatrist at a very well known university. We started our relationship off pretty well, albeit there were some red flags I did notice.

I had ignored those flags due to her “not being in a relationship for so long due to med school.”

Fine. I can deal, I’ll still do my thing…. Wrong.

One day she slipped the rug and I was caught off guard. I had a lot of other family/career things going on, and we were still on good terms so I gave her a call. Turns out she’s a sociopath. I had planned to seek therapy to be more empathetic and just an all around better person for my next partner.

Wrong.

The conversation became circular and I hung up on her. Went to take a shit and she swatted me. I was held at gunpoint by 6 officers wielding some pretty heavy hardware. Turns or she had told first responders I was suicidal, and would kill anyone who showed up.

I was kidnapped at gunpoint with two questions: 1) what’s your name, and 2) are you a veteran. No other investigation was performed; she requested I be “pink slipped.” They entered my apartment without a warrant, confiscated my firearms, and basically told me to fuck off. I was held against my will for 12 hours in the ED, incurred an ~$6k medical bill, and released.

I called law enforcement, wouldn’t help. Called the hospital where she works, wouldn’t help. Called the hospital she had me sent to… wouldn’t help. She ended up running me through the legal system with her being the “victim.” Luckily I skirted that, but the two tiered society we live in is a tough go.

I called a DV hotline sponsored by the university and was laughed at.

I could’ve easily been killed and no one cares. I apologize for the long form post, but I needed to get this off my chest after almost a year. It’s bad out there, it really is.

tldr: be careful out there, men. We’re gonna need us to fall back on at some point soon. Stay focused.
