21 years of. Marriage is coming to an end, but there is no desire to be in any relationship .

[–]tropical_human 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

21 years! Please, what is the reason for the divorce?

[–]No-Exit6560 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I went in with rose colored glasses and Thank christ it was a short marriage and I had a prenup.

Never again will I live in such a way as the state views me as married.

[–]tropical_human 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Did thw prenup help? What state were you married in?

[–]No-Exit6560 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It’s technically called a binding financial agreement here in Australia.

And yep, If you happen to live in Australia you should get one even if you only have a long term partner.

[–]tropical_human 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Thank you.

Please how much did the prenup cost and what was the terms like?

[–]No-Exit6560 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A few thousand, each of us had our own legal representation etc….

Terms will vary wildly based on your conditions.

I had significantly more assets than she did etc..,

[–]tropical_human 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thanks for the reply. Did the prenup protect only pre-marital funds or it also protected assets/funds earned after the marriage?

[–]No-Exit6560 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I continued to acquire investment property during the marriage and it was all insulated. Mine was based off my real estate business before hand and acknowledged that I would continue etc…

Marriage literally destroyed my life and my kids. Not recommended.

[–]Classic_Dill 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As much trauma as we went through, the truth of the matter at the end of the day is, there was no silver lining for the kids, they always take the worst hit, and I would never advise anybody to risk the lives of other people for a 55% chance to lose, I’m glad millennials are finally not getting married and not really having kids, it’s time of generation woke up and smelled the coffee, marriage and kids should not be the majority of people, it should be the majority of people doing it, it is a very large sacrifice. And one decision you shouldn’t make when you’re in your 20s with no experience.

Great and accurate video. Thanks for sharing.

This is also a great video called "Divorce Corp": https://youtu.be/th0R2nxva2w

Whatever benefit to marriage there was in the past, that benefit no longer exists.

[–]RunTheBull13 20 points21 points22 points 2 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Only benefit was taxes and car insurance was less. I'm getting screwed over much more than that benefit was worth. I'm not even religious. I wanted her to be on my great health insurance. I'm an idiot.

[–]Janus_is_Magus 12 points13 points14 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The thing about taxes is the meager benefit is really only noticeable if there is a large difference in your incomes, in which case you are at highest risk of losing the most in divorce.

The key is to learn from mistakes and don't repeat them.

[–]Classic_Dill 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Simple, yet so true, and effective, how many of these guys end up getting married three or four times, I wonder if men understand, you know that you can have sex with women and not marry them, right? Lol 😂

Why buy the cow when the milk is cheap

[–]Classic_Dill 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just have no reason to be married, I was married I had kids why would I be married again? What is the gain? I’m an atheist, so there’s no religious angle here, and a white piece of paper from the government is not a measure of your love for somebody or your commitment really, your commitment to somebody is actually your commitment! I’m so so glad the millennials are for the most part not getting married or having kids in the large numbers that past generations have. Finally, a generation started to listen. No problem cohabitating for 30 years, but marriage? Not a chance in hell.
