That stat always seemed very suspicious to me, simply because there would have to be some grand conspiracy to hide such high rate of any crime from the world, even if it were something local and nonviolent (like, for hypothetical example, if there was evidence that one in six people in Nevada has been pickpocketed, or something of that nature), let alone a worldwide rate of a heinous violent crime.

However, google search has been useless at helping me find any argument against it (I swear search engines have been getting stupider over the years).

Does anyone here have any refutations of this absurd statistic so often used to slander and demonize men?
