Divorced Oct 22. In 2023 my taxes were a mess because of the divorce, deferred payments, etc. We owed a bunch (although inly I worked; but was able to give her 50% of the owed debt because hey its 50/50). Had to file single because divorce happened before new years.

Looking at my 2023 taxes and I will owe an additional $30k because filing single vs married joint. I also pay her $7.5k/mo for spousal support. So 2023 post divorce is a total $120k I give up.

And it's worth it 🤑 I have never been more peaceful and stress free. Even with the huge pay outs I still have more discretionary income now then when married (down graded a lot, not supporting another human, etc). Spousal support is over summer 2026; but going to try to pay her off end of 2024 or spring 2025. Once that's done I keep all the money going to spousal support and will start investing & setting up passive income streams.

I know my situation is rare: no kids, 3.5 years spousal support, and I am a hugh earner so can weather the storm. But just wanted to share into the void. Feeling really good and fuck the moneyi can always make more money, I can not create more time.
