I left my verbally and emotionally abusive wife who only slept with me 3 times in our horrible year long marriage a year ago. She was either a covert narcissist or suffered from undiagnosed BPD. She screamed at me constantly, never shoed me any appreciation or affection, and basically made my life a living hell. She would walk out of therapy any time the therapist challenged her on anything.

My father completely understood and was always on my side. She made the divorce hell.

But she was a lovely person to the rest of my family and friends. I was always so jealous of how nice her public persona was since what I got in private was so different. So my brother, little sister, and step mother all took her side in the divorce.......that I was abandoning a very kind woman. She also sent them emails with horrible lies about me.

So here I am a year later with my relationships with all three absolutely destroyed (so to speak, not even talking to any of them and not welcome at the family home).

It's devastating to me. I expected my family to support me because I came out of my marriage an emotional wreck from the abuse and instead all I got was that I was somehow the bad guy. My Dad did nothing to tell them otherwise despite always believing me and supporting me (he saw through her facade). All 3 of them still talk to her and like all of her social media posts.

Overall, I'm doing pretty well. In a good, happy relationship. Good job. Great place. And I know I made the right decision. I just never imagined my own family would abandon me and stab me in the back. I don't think there is ever going back because I don't know if I could forgive them and they seem in no interest of apologizing or asking for forgiveness. If anything, they still seem angry at me.

It's really unbelievable. You think of all the times in your life you can count on family, divorce would be one of them.......but nope.
