I am sure the answer is complicated and varies from woman to woman. For sex workers, I know a few strippers, cosmetic surgery is basically an investment that pays for itself in more clients and tips. I know some women just get cosmetic surgery to feel empowered like they have control over their bodies, I would imagine it is pretty similar to why some guys end up on steroids. I have not talked to a woman who had cosmetic surgery to “get power over men,” but I have known one or two busty women who explicitly said they enjoy the “power over men” their cleavage had.

Nah that there is called insecurity. And plastic surgery only gives you an illusion of security. My sister is quite the stunning woman and she doesn’t like the way she looks. Sometimes we can not see in ourselves what others see in us🤷🏼‍♀️

While it could be argued that some do...the ones who are on IG are just the type of women who only get them to sexualise themselves further.

There are also plenty of women who have issues such as very small breast size or unequal breast size for example, who wish to just feel more feminine.

I've known several women who have had breast augmentation but do not wear low cut tops, are happily married and just wanted to feel feminine.

So, as with most answers...it depends on a lot of factors and not every woman is the same.

Why they do it would be a great research paper. I would volunteer to do the survey. …I think they tend to overdo it and get them too large. They might “work” great for awhile but eventually the implants age and don’t look right.

The sad part is that most men I know (myself included) do not like fake breasts. I think it’s more just women judging themselves against other women when in reality most men would prefer a woman that is comfortable in their own body even if they don’t have massive breasts.

Some do, some don't.

I have a friend who had been self conscious about her chest for as long as I had known her.

She got divorced and got some new tattoos and fake boobs. Neither were to attract a man, the tattoos were something her ex husband said was stupid so she never did it but they were something she loved and the boobs made her feel more attractive and feminine.

However... there are also women in industries were looks are very important. Say, sales or modeling, things where being hot is an asset.

In addition to spending a lot on hair and makeup, they might also do cosmetic surgery as it's basically an investment in themselves.

Every post pubescent woman has figured out that sex is power, and that men are easily manipulated.

I used to live in Connecticut near the casinos, maybe half the women I met that worked there had been "enhanced" (including my ex) and they would straight up tell you it was for tips. They used to joke that surgery should be a tax deduction.

And while they may look nice while you're dressed, very few look good while not, and they just feel awful.

Similarly with other cosmetic surgery (and tattoos), people will get them for a number of different reasons.

Not all women get Breast augmentation for the same reason.

From my understanding I believe that most women do it to increase their own self esteem or to make themselves more attractive towards potential partners.

Sure some women will do it to manipulate men,but the two occasions I mentioned above are the main reason as to why women would get bigger breasts through surgery.

I believe they're not necessary to fake your own appearance, if anything they're the only cosmetic thing that will stay on their body after a shower. Probably they serve as an ego boost in most cases, and a cheat code for hooking up

Calling them “fake breasts” prejudices the issue. They aren’t fake, they are augmented and become a part of her body. Is a nose job a “fake nose? Plastic surgery becomes a part of that person. It’s all very expensive but usually achieves its goal. But if a woman has low self-esteem or other emotional problem she may find p.s. doesn’t solve the problem.
