Don't beat around the bush, you're hitting on her and you're interested in pressuring a sexual relationship with her. Own it:

"Hey there! You're really cute/sexy, I had to come over and say hi."

Have a very quick basic conversation:

"What are you working on / reading / etc.?"

Screen to see logistics about asking her on a date:

"Are you in school? What do you do for work?"

"Do you live around here?"

Get her number and leave:

"I gotta run..." OR "I'll let you get back to your work/reading/etc..."

"... but we should grab a drink/coffee sometime. What's your number?"

You're not trying to "seduce" her, more talking isn't going to make her more sexually available. You're just screening for chicks who are single and open to a sexual relationship with you.

That’s approaching on easy mode man. A stationary person at a coffee shop is so easy to talk to. Just grab the seat next to her and then start the convo soon after. Or if the seat is taken, just go up to her directly.

I found this thread because someone just joined the queue a few seconds after me who I might have otherwise been interested. The first thing I thought of asking her was "Hey, what would you like me to buy for you?" and go from there. Then I remembered from college that people don't often get me something in return so it can be money wasted.

In the end, I said nothing because I'm still mentally recovering from my last relationship. For me, this was an "If only I was ok" sort of moment.

I think you’re thinking too hard. Just don’t think about it just approach with an opener. For example if she’s working on her laptop, you can just say “Excuse me you seem really focused with that laptop are you writing a book..” from there you just have a normal conversation..
