The minute I step into a bar/club/loud event I think 'ah shit, here we go again' punched in the face by obnoxiously loud (usually shit) music playing, everyone's shouting, it's so crowded you can barely move around, groups of girls are cloistered off in tight knit circles, drinks are way overpriced, I just feel like doing a 180 and getting the fuck out.

Genuinely I don't know how people can stand this sort of an environment night after night for hours on end.

Given all that, the only reason I would go is to meet women (unless I'm going to see a DJ or for a friends birthday or something) so I can't really pretend to be having a good time (unless I'm on drugs, which I'm staying clear of for a while). If I wanted to catch up with friend I'd go to a quiet place where we can actually talk, and somewhere with good food, maybe do an activity like an escape room or axe throwing or something.

Scenario:

I'm at the bar when I see a cute blonde girl giving me eyes / she's in a seated area with a four friends / I'm there with my one friend who still goes out and he's taking a leak...

What the fuck am I supposed to do? Walk over and bedazzle all five of them by pulling a hare out of a hat? Walk over and leave her my business card?

Remember, it's too loud to hear yourself think and her friends are all drunk and shouting - I would have to walk over and talk directly into her ear.

Even if she could hear me, what the hell am I supposed to say to a girl I've never met sitting there with her friends? Some corny pick up line? Some boring shit like asking her how her night is going? Some stupid zany question about whether she would rather have no arms or no legs? Should I mime sex positions to see if she picks up what I'm laying down?

Unless someone throws themselves on you, how are you supposed to connect with someone in an environment like this? I think I'd have more chance of getting laid in the waiting room at a hospital than a bar.
