Social proof matters more when you're younger. Girls like to see you have a group and a couple of strong bromances. This is actually good for you because being young is when you've got the most social proof. Yes, I'm talking to you 18-26 guys. It matters less after that, but it still matters.

At 29, what I'm seeing is that my social proof is disappearing. The simplest explanation is that my friends are all settling down, and when you settle down your outings change fundamentally. Not only do they change, but they happen less and less and you begin to build this new life with someone else at the center. C'est la vie.

I'm in a professional school. I've got a really good career to look forward to, but I don't see this problem really getting better. I'm still going to be the bachelor looking to have late nights out and my friends are only going to get more married (when the divorces start happening a few years later...yeah that's gonna be weird).

Finding women aside, how the hell are you supposed to have fun as an older bachelor? Lone wolfing it seems really weird, but is that the only way to go? Learn how to not be a creepy loner?
