I’ve not met anyone who thinks Russian women are timid. It’s quite the opposite. A Russian woman I dated once said to me: “Yea, Russian women are crazy, but American women are neurotic. Which would rather have?” She had a point. Crazy is fun sometimes, while neurotic is never fun.

Because they’ve never met a Russian woman? Seriously, I’ve never met a Russian woman who wasn’t hard working and determined. They’ve been quiet- but absolutely NOT timid. No idea why that stereotype would exist.

i went to russia once and i did have that impression.

They are indeed very reserved compared to many other countries. That a believe is a consequence of the enormous amount of sexism that permeates russian culture

I have never in my entire western life seen ANY portrayal of Russian women as harmless. Actually, I think the last one I saw was red sparrow and that chick wasn't harmless.

It probably goes back to the 1990s. When the Soviet Union collapsed Russia (temporarily) went into a very grim timeline. Russian women were forced in huge numbers into sex work and/or “mail order bride” situations. A lot of Russian women had to be meek and timid and sexually accommodating. For their literal survival.

Russia is better off now than in was in the 1990s tho, so Russian women are now free to be themselves. And that is not meek or timid at all. In fact it’s probably the opposite.
