This post is not meant to totally dissuade you from tinder, however it is meant to educate you on what you can expect and why you may choose to avoid tinder in the future for the sake of your mental health.

I'll start by giving you some background on myself. I'm 26, almost 27. I'm 6'1, have a career in the military, and have been lifting weights since I was 16. I consider myself a pretty attractive guy, although not naturally so. I was bullied severely when I was younger. I was skinny and short and didn't have a lot of friends. It inspired me to greatly improve myself to get to where I am now. I've had a few girlfriends over the years and have been with somewhere between 30-35 girls. Contrary to the title of this post, a lot of those girls came from tinder. I'll be discussing though why, even if you're an attractive guy, you shouldn't be using tinder.

The damaging part of tinder mentally for most men is not necessarily the lack of sex or dates, it's all that you've done in your life up to that point and the lack of appreciation for it. If you've ever done infantry training in the army you'll know that it's very much like going through hell. Last year I completed infantry training, bought a very nice car, got my own place, deadlifted close to 400lbs, and achieved some semblance of financial security. I figured once I returned home for my leave and went on tinder it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

In the week and a half I've been home on leave I've been on three dates. Two of those dates the girls had put on 10-20lbs since their most recent pictures and the third girl was nothing special. As pretentious as this sounds, it fucked me up. I have a close friend that went through something similar. He's 6'2, training for special forces, and is in incredible shape. Even he has very little luck on tinder. I think that just goes to show how broken online dating is at the moment. I couldn't even imagine how bad it is for the average guy.

In my heart of hearts I still know that I am the prize, however online dating broke me a bit. It inspired me to only meet girls in person. Online dating hinders your interactions with girls in real life because it lowers your perceived self-worth. The response that you get from girls in real life will be entirely different from how they respond to you online. You could get constantly rejected by girls online yet have a girl in real life so into you in person that she blushes and forgets how to speak.
