Is cold approach seen differently today?

Top-notch unis like Cambridge lean heavily on the left. Think feminism, men-are-the-source-of-all-evils and those kinds of ideas. So it's no wonder people on that sub react so strongly about any form of game.

For fun I once asked a group of people at Cambridge how they would seduce someone. After a few awkward answers the group reached a consensus that seduction was bad because it negates the consent of the person being seduced. That gives you an idea of the philosophy out there.

My biggest fear is this shit tbh. Im cute dude but fucking scared to end up with shit like that. I have read those thread and they have disgusting views towards approaching. However in my experience (When I did approach) never turned down like that and had positive experience. But these thoughts fucks my brain.

The only problem with cold approach rn is the pandemic and adding risk to a stranger without their consent is crossing a line imo. Once your vaccinated though, I see it as normal again. I'd hate to live in a world where cold approach is permanently gone.

Every woman has smashed a dude who approached her in a non traditional setting/place. The gym, the line at a bookstore, at the park etc.

Cold approaching is a skill that’s a great tool in the toolbox if you know what you’re doing.

I've heard that from others as well. A dating coach I know who's been cold approaching since 2007 and still does as it's his job, told me it has gotten harder a few years ago. I've also read other Redditors saying the same thing. The younger generation find it unusual to be cold approached.

I think the younger generation find it goes against social norms to have strangers talking to them as it doesn't happen often. There are 2 reasons for this:

The first reason is social media like Facebook, Instagram, etc, makes it easier to keep in contact with friends, so there's less need to meet new people to refill the number of people in your social circle. Whereas before social media you had to meet new people, because it was a lot easier to lose contact with old friends. Most people back then only had the phone number of a few people, and it might feel awkward to invite them out if you haven't spoken to them in a year.

But with Facebook I can have the contact details of hundreds of people there. And even if I don't see them for a year, we still interact through commenting on each other posts or msging. It doesn't feel as awkward to invite them out after not seeing them for a year, as we were still communicating. So I'm less likely to make new friends as I still have my old friends.

The second reason is that in today's world, when most people do decide they want to meet new people, dating apps and meet-up groups make it easier to find new people you share things in common with, and these people also want to meet others. Rather than talking to random strangers you share nothing in common with, and these strangers may not be in a social mood, or looking to meet new people.

Cold approaching was designed for a time before social media, dating apps, meet-up groups, etc, existed. It doesn't fit in today's world and political climate. Less people approach strangers these days, so it's considered unusual.

Bunch of uppity SJW's with no experience in being approached, for good reason, on that thread. They're acting like it's verboten because it never happens to them, so they project their fear of strangers on the population at large. I just got done approaching an 8 in line at Subway, worked like a charm and she took my phone and punched in a text to herself. Never seen this girl in my life, and I'm probably 15 years senior to her (I'm 40). If you're not putting off creepy vibes, the girl isn't going to feel creeped out. It's literally that simple.

This problem is mainly confined to overly liberal college towns and cities. Even in left-leaning college towns like the one I'm in where I just got a number it is still possible to cold approach with great results. It's the "progressive" morons that are ruining everything

Also, your advice post on that uni sub was solid. Nothing wrong with it. The UK has a really negative reception of cold approach rn, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with in normal times if you are respectful and respect boundaries. Good on you for putting some people on the right path.

There's a Girl's Chase post about why cold approach is the best way to consistently meet new girls that's pretty insightful. Go read, keep doing it and pay no attention what other people think. Specially the kind of idiots on your post.

Cold approach has always been looked down upon, as far as I'm aware.

It's partially because of its birth from programs that purported to allow you to mind control women; and partially because it's typically associated with inexperienced PUAs, who are getting into seduction to learn a base level of social skills.

The mind control bit is seen as both pseudoscience and straight up wrong, since it claims to make people do things against their will or better judgement. Frankly, it's ridiculous, because it is pseudoscience, and disproven. You can't make someone do something against their will, barring some sort of blackmail.

The second part is more understandable--there's a lot of people out there trying to develop social skills who will come off as annoying and weird for a long while yet. If they're cold approaching, their counterparts will associate seduction with annoying and weird people, thus degrading its social rating.

Cold approach being looked down upon* is a problem that can't be resolved except on a case-by-case and, when the 7-38-55 rule is considered, an in person basis. The stigma will likely never dissolve, but that's not to say we shouldn't work to counteract it.

When you can, it is vital that you encourage the community's image as a place for improvement of the self and of social skills.
