I understand this line of logic - it's completely rational.. And I supsect for some guys it's true..

But on the broader scale, humans are meant to learn from stories and not a laundry list of facts.

For example when facts and advice are provided in the form of a story or coherent context, the data within is retained far more effectively.

This understanding of data retention has been researched quite extensively. It's true of children all the way to late adulthood. That's why ALL powerful educators are incredible story tellers. Tell me a self-improvement expert who changed your life who doesn't provide context and stories to go with the facts?

The other point I'll throw in as personal experience as a coach. We can hear the same facts many times over, but it isn't until we hear a fact provided in a special context that the message really sinks in and it can be like we 'hear' the fact for the first time. It resonates internally and we actually USE what we learned.

So yes... There is a very important place for video and well written content that isn't just a single sentence that better effects the readers.

I think failure to understand this will cause a lot of men to be the kind of guys who 'kno all the answers' but still can't get their shit together. Not accusing any of you specifically of that, but that's the tendency I see with the idea that knowledge is knowing a set of basic facts even if they haven't truly sunk in and taken any effect.

last point: In a rush to absorb info as quickly as possible I wasted my first year learning game 14 years ago 'knowing everything' but actually understanding nothing. Trying to tell people who I knew it all, and how unoriginal they were, but still not getting the results I really wanted.

yes, but if you add in an example that can lead to a connection, it's enough to remember. that's how i study before a test, and it seems to be rather effective

there seem to be no powerful educators in any educational facility, though this would help.

that's why mathematics and history is a bitch to learn, you get all this blubber and don't know what to do with it. only robots or kids high on meth can actually pass the exams.

You gotta learn generic code, data structures - understand the discreet math behind it, then learn about graphics and rendering etc. good learning is formed upon good foundation

that being said, i needed a summary whether it's worth watching. because if someone can summarize it with a few words, and it's something i've already heard about then it's a waste of time for me. furthermore, i really enjoyed your reply, you seem quite knowledgeable
