Is texting too much a bad thing? Should I be more direct and less "conversationy?" Is there a specific way to be approaching text?

They might be waiting for you to pull the trigger and ask them out and eventually give up or they find your timidness about doing it unattractive.

Edit: And you can't wait for them to initiate hangouts because you'll be waiting til you're dead. If you've got their number, they like you and want to get to know you better. Establish some connection and comfort with 2-4 texts and then ask them on a date.

Bonding over texts is a waste because you give up all your funny/interesting stuff without having a chance to DHV through kino, escalation, body language and eventually close. Your attraction is the highest when you're making her laugh, leading her, telling her all your funny stories and that's when she's most vulnerable to escalation. Texting should be only be used to sort out meet up logistics.

I had/have this exact same problem. I would meet hot girls and get their number, even go on dates ..but things would eventually die off before we made anything official. I would keep getting "You're a great guy ..but I'm not looking for a relationship". I was thinking wtf we're talking and everything is going great ..and all of a sudden everything comes to a grinding halt.

My opinion on the problem we share: We're being overly available & not polarizing enough. I used to text the girls everyday all day ..and even call them at night when I could. That was way too much for a girl I wasn't even dating.

The rule I stick to now is to only text to work out logistics for a date. I mix in some jokes and things to build some rapport .. but I only do this for like 5 messages or so ..then I push for a day 2. Don't give her the boyfriend treatment if you're not even dating her. Remember to keep escalating and be polarizing ..you'll find out how much she likes you when you do this.

I'd go so far as to say you can only lose attraction over text and that you'd be hard pressed to increase it. You made your initial impression, and although texting might feel like you're getting to know someone, it's difficult to generate strong feelings through keystrokes.

Also, how much texting are we talking about here? With a given girl, I'd consider it to be indulgent to be texting her for 10-15 minutes in a day. If you live near her, there's no reason to be having long conversations. You'll see her in person, you shouldn't be trying to compensate for lack of facetime over text.
