It seems like every time I lose a girl this is what is happening. I will want the girl to be on the chase so I will do my best to ramp up emotions and then withdraw slightly. Sometimes this works great and the girl comes chasing after me, but other times she calls my bluff (or is seems upset that I'm not leveling with her) and gets distant as well. Am I fucking something up here?

As an example, let's say I see a girl at a club and we start talking about our chemistry. The girl might say something like, "I bet we would have amazing sex" - now here instead of getting excited I usually will take a step back to try and put her on the chase. Maybe retort with something like, "Sex? Don't you get ahead of yourself now..." (with a clear smile and open body language).

Usually this works great. But sometimes after I say this the girl will totally withdraw. I know nothing is foolproof, but the ones that withdraw I wonder if they would have responded better to a, "Only one way to find out" and the just grab her hand and get out of there.

Stuff like this, where she will give a Massive IOI followed by a question or statement that is asking me to put my cards on the table - I can't figure out if it's a shit-test or if she doesn't know if I am into her and is looking for reciprocation to figure that out.

This will even happen with dates. The girl will tell me it's the best date she has ever been on and I will be reluctant to say "me too" because it seems like I'm losing ground. So when I say something that puts her back on the chase like, "you better keep being fun then so you get another one" and then I will see an immediate withdrawal and then she will turn down a good date (like dinner at my place) for something less personable (like coffee) for next time.

I'm really struggling to wrap my head around this. If anyone could help me out it'd be appreciated.
