The response to Seddit U's opening session was gratifying. I am proud of our students and their hard work. We had a great variety of answers and opinions. Let's keep the momentum going and open up discussion of the answers. One thing I'd like to ask is that Seddit U posts need to be seriously upvoted or else they disappear quickly. This post disappeared from the front page after a couple of days. Is this sufficient to make this opportunity available to everyone?

Let's look at the answers offered by sedditors.

Question 1, "What is pickup and seduction?" had answers I'd vaguely categorize into two types: Pickup (with a capital P) and pickup (with a small p). Capital P Pickup generally referred to Pickup systems as self-improvement and education in social skills. This was really the answer I was fishing for, focusing on oneself instead of women. Some typical responses:

LuckyNinja: "Pickup and Seduction to me is about getting better at being me. At being someone who interacts with people on an emotional level and brings out the best in them and in our experience together."

LesbianPUA: "..learning to respect yourself and communicate with people (especially women) effectively. It's about understanding women and living up to our potential with them."

Delightful_White: "Pickup and Seduction, to me, is about improving yourself to be a more desirable person to the opposite sex, as well as improving your social intuition in general, which will have positive effects on your life, career, friends, family, etc.

PandAlex: "Pickup to me is educating men socially, allowing people who were previously awkward meeting women, feel more capable and in control of the situation."

Most of the answers were of this type, there are too many to single out all the great answers. Then there were a few answers I'd categorize as pickup with a small p, focusing on the results with women.

lachumproyale1210: "The art/skill of communicating your good social qualities and your sexual nature to a woman, reading her responses, and smoothly escalating towards sex."

choochu: "Pickup is the ability to get the girl that you want. Seduction is getting the woman to feel like a woman by being a man, and having her open herself to you completely. Seduction is the act of making her feel a sense of passion, safety, and comfort."

I feel that both these types of answers are equally valid. Perhaps there is some difference in the types of people who are looking at the ends, versus the means. Discuss?

Question 2 asked for Pickup systems, here we're probably dealing with Capital P Pickup. Let's list all the ones that were mentioned, with some corrections and expansions.

Mystery Method (M3), David DeAngelo (Double Your Dating), David Wygant (Men's Mastery), Gunwitch Method, Vin DiCarlo (Attraction Code, Escalation Ladder), Juggler (Charisma Arts), Savoy (Magic Bullets), Style (Rules of The Game), Gambler (PUA Training), Robert Greene (Art of Seduction, Laws of Power), Ross Jeffries (Speed Seduction - NLP). I will also add RooshV (Bang) and Real Social Dynamics (RSD Foundations, Transformations, Blueprint, Jeffy Show). I noted with some amusement that none of the "PUAs" that spam seddit were mentioned.

Some psychological side-material was also mentioned: Dale Carnegie (How to Win Friends and Influence People), David Burns (Intimate Connections)

I should note that all these materials have floated around seddit from the usual bootleg sources like Pirate Bay or FilesTube. Since we will probably be studying some of these materials in detail in the future, we ought to come to a consensus on using pirated materials. I know that at least one author (RooshV) does read seddit and has commented on the pirating of his book. I have also seen some DMCA actions by Love Systems on fileshare sites. How do we feel about this?

With that in mind, I'd also like to ask students what they want from Seddit U. Is there some specific material we should study? Should we go through some books, chapter by chapter? Should we set up different classes for different levels of experience?

So I will open the floor to discussion. I will propose some discussion questions, but this is open to all topics relevant to Assignment 1 and this Results document.

  2. Which are the most useful Pickup systems from Question 2?

  3. What materials should we study? What is our next assignment?

  4. Would any other sedditors like to lead any study sessions?
