In more detail, I wrote an entire article about this type of thing, copy pasted for your reading pleasure.

I see this question a lot: "Hey Josh, I’m an ugly, fat pathetic socially awkward loser. How can a fat pathetic socially awkward loser like me get girls?"

The answer to this question is obvious: "Stop being an ugly, fat pathetic socially awkward loser!" Most men accept this answer and recognize that in order to achieve their potential they will have to change more than their interactions with women but their whole being. However, an all too common response from some men is: "But I’ve seen ugly fat weird guys with hot girls before. Why do I have to change who I am when there are plenty of hot girls going out with ugly fat weird guys?"

My retort is usually the same thing: "Plenty of people have gotten rich winning the lottery, but does that make buying lottery tickets a good career?" In other words, the explanation here is that those guys are "flukes". They got lucky. And luck, my friends, is not a strategy.

Counter-examples only disprove certainty

The main problem going on here besides men looking for excuses to be lazy and not to improve themselves is a lack of basic logic understanding: They believe that a counter example disproves a point. This is actually not true. A counter example disproves CERTAINTY. It disproves a statement of the form: "You have 0% chance of getting a hot girl if you are fat and ugly." It does not disprove a statement of the form: "You have a 0.00001% chance of getting a hot girl if you are fat and ugly."

But are these statements really any different for all practical purposes? No. They are not. Yet men constantly think that a counter-example cannot easily be explained away by going from 0% to 0.00001%. This lack of logical reasoning extends not just to dating but to many other aspects of life. It is actually really really important: Counter-examples only disprove certainty.

Make your own luck

Now that you know the flukes you see out there in the world are exactly that, flukes, it’s time to focus on improving your odds of getting in the situation you want, not just hoping you’ll be one of the 0.00001% flukes. One way you can do this by observing the typical situation, not seeking out the fluke to make yourself feel better. Focus on what kind of guys high quality girls are typically dating instead of seeking that one high quality girl who happens to date a guy like you. Learn from the guys who consistently win at what they do, not the flukes. Make your own luck by improving your odds of getting lucky, as opposed to just sitting there hoping to get lucky.

Come on... really? I think if you actually even vaguely believe this statement then your sole purpose for self-improvement is based on getting more validation from women. Don't care about having a better lifestyle, better health, better social life, etc? Kinda dumb comment .

No it's not. He isn't fat, he takes care of his style (exemplifies the nerdy kind of look, which is a style unto its own). What you mean is "he doesn't lift and isn't jacked" but that's actually not what PUA community says at all.

Game trumps all, appearance matters.

I think basically you're undermining everything the community even vaguely stands for. "Oh we are all here to learn game to be better at attracting hotter women.. but when some other guy i think doesn't fit my personal stereotype of alpha male... then how could a girl ever possibbly date him IT's bullshit!"

My guess is that he doesn't go around asking people "oh my god how can that skinny nerdy guy be with such a hot girl"... probably cuz he doesn't give a fuck, right? Good on him for getting that chick

Well, the PUA community doesn't necessarily teach you to "look" a certain way. The whole point is your looks don't matter, your attitude and personality do. Remember, women are all about emotions. If you get them emotionally invested, they won't part with you for something "better" because to them you're the best regardless of your race, looks, status, etc.

From the short research I did online, this guy is a photographer. Lorde is a singer. So they most likely were able to relate to each other because they are both artsy types of people. Plus Lorde doesn't seem to be the typical bubblegum pop type of celebrity. She's pretty down to earth. First interview that showed up on YouTube when I searched "Lorde interview" is her with barely any make up on talking about how she avoids putting make up on when she can and wants her young fans to see her when she's not photoshopped so they can see she's not all perfect either. So she already seems like the type that doesn't give a fuck about what society thinks and will date whoever she wants no matter what they look like. Definitely not the type to date a buff "alpha" looking type guy unless he had an artsy personality that matches her.

I think Lorde and her boyfriend are about comparable looking. This coming from a woman. They're both a little "unconventional" and maybe they have a lot in common and a compatible personality. Those intangibles are always hugely important.

You have to look at what place she is in. Look at the environment she's in, where Hollywood provides tons of facades. And why are you so quick to judge her man. Sure he might be skinny, but he could be way more alpha than you. Sure he might be skinny, but he could have mastered the Models mindset way better than you.
