i posted this story to trees and pretty much everyone said i was in the wrong. i'm interested to see if you guys think the same.

yesterday afternoon i met up with a girl who i've been chatting with online for a while. she has been nervous the whole way but seemed keen to meet me (she mentioned meeting up first, then backed away, so i followed up and set a time and place)

we met in a beautiful park by the water in the middle of the city. there were heaps of other couples around having fun. i thought it was a pretty low pressure environment. we got a drink and sat on a bench to chat.

she was obviously very nervous, almost shaking. i acknowledged it and moved the conversation to comfort fluff talk, about friends and family and good times.

after a while we went for a walk and we stopped to watch some bollywood guys who were filming a movie. i got bored of that and decided to walk on along the path. i said ' i'm definitely not watching this all day :)' and started to walk. she didn't follow but i assumed she would in a while when she was ready.

a few minutes later when she hadn't shown up, i texted her 'are you lost?' she texted back that she was leaving. i called her and talked to her, she said her feelings were hurt because i left her. and she wouldn't come back.

now i understand that it is a nervous time when you first meet someone new, especially from online. i'm pretty sure she is insecure because she has been slow to respond the whole way and some of the things she says signal LSE (low self esteem).

so what do you think? did i do something wrong by giving her space on a first date? i was thinking of it like a take away, if she wants me she needs to follow when i lead.

is it her LSE that made her freak out or was i rude?

is it better to blow LSE girls out straight away since i am not interested in them anyway?

TL : DR girl leaves in a huff, was i rude or did i dodge a bullet?
