When in doubt, ignoring comments like this is often the best response. Just act like you didn't hear what she just said.

On the gift thing, something like "that's cool, I don't need gifts that bad" or "well I'll say thank you, but only if the gift deserves it" could be a good response.

If she's letting you borrow the keys to your apartment, are you already sleeping with this girl? If not you may already be in the friend zone.

The key is to believe you're the prize. The more you internalize this the more the shit tests have obvious solutions.

Anything that ignores the premise of the shit test is a good response. Several options have been given in this thread, including ignoring it. Laughing at shit tests is acceptable. Absurdifying them works ("OOh, I guess I'd better be on my best behavior then, eh? So I'd better not pick on girls, huh?" and begin to pick on her, tickle her, do whatever funny thing you feel like doing). Changing the subject works.

In this case, I'd probably turn it into something ridiculous (I think of it as "interruption game"). "Ooh, is it a penguin?! I fucking love penguins. I haven't been to the zoo in forever. We've gotta go see the penguins next week."

That's not a "shit test". All she wants is your attention. You might or might not give it to her, depending on what you see is the best, but she's not testing you.
