We sent a group of non-nudists to a nudist colony and filmed where they were looking when they were introduced to new people. All the non-nudist men reported that they had trouble resisting the urge to look down and the video replay showed how obvious it was when they did look down. The women said they did not experience these problems and rarely was a woman filmed intentionally gazing towards the nether regions. This is because men are equipped with a form of tunnel vision that makes them far better than women at seeing directly in front of them and over long distances for spotting targets. Most men's close range and peripheral vision is far poorer than women's, however, which is why men have difficulty seeing things in refrigerators, cupboards and drawers. Women's peripheral vision extends to at least 45 degrees to each side, above and below, which means she can appear to be looking at someone's face while, at the same time, she is inspecting their goods and chattels.
Book of Body Language
Interesting point about a woman's greater close range and peripheral vision. Some possible consequences:
Never think that you can steal glances at a woman. If every time you glance at a woman becomes a sort of DLV, because you only look at things that have value to you, then failed attempts to steal glances costs us.
Most male glances are incidental. You generally have to look at a guy just to see what he looks like, whether you recognize him, etc. I suspect that if women don't have to actually look at someone to do the same thing, then when a woman actually looks at someone, it's deliberate. Most women will only look at you if they mean it, to communicate through body language.
Be alert for the 45 degree glance from a woman from the corner of her eye, almost similar to the way a bird will look at you from a 90 degree angle. Maybe she's suspicious of you, maybe she's checking you out, maybe both.
Only look at a woman, or anyone else, when you mean it. Really, this is the most alpha way to present yourself anyway; but if you can't realistically steal glances at a woman you're interested in, then this is the only alternative. Have a plausible purpose for looking at a woman, look at her, then open her. Looking at a woman is basically opening her. Okay, granted, initially you're going to glance to see what people look like and what they are doing, but if you glance at a woman too many times in a short time span, you're probably DLVing yourself to the point of creepiness.
I'm now convinced that women are basically checking us out all the time.
