I have sort of a wierd situation that I don't know how to respond to. There's this girl that I've been great friends with for a long time. Recently I asked her out; she said yes, but another guy asked her out around the same time, who she said yes to as well. She told me this and I was fine; we weren't dating yet so I didn't feel like I could tell her not to. She was sort of in a "we're good friends, I'm not sure if we'll work as boyfriend girlfriend but I'll try it" mindset. Anyways, I was unfortunately hit by a bunch if work (we're undergrads in college) and we had to postpone our date quite a bit. We were talking about the date often though, it's not like we forgot about it at all. By the time our date comes around, she suddenly tells me that things moved forward with the other guy, so she isn't gonna give me a chance anymore because the other guy woulda be upset. I feel like she led me on and I was pretty hurt that she picked this other guy over me (i was pretty into her).

The question isn't how do I win her; I'm not trying to do that. I'm just curious how an alpha male would respond. I want to keep her as a friend, I care about her.
