This sub really harps on eye contact, and I'm sure for good reason. It's not just effective in the dating world, but in business, with friends, etc. It's a powerful tool.

So I've recently decided to try and hold eye contact with as many people as I can while I'm out and about. Whether I'm going out to eat, or running errands, or going to the gym, whatever.

Problem is, I can't. No, not because I'm a chump who walks around looking at his feet all day. But because nobody makes eye contact in the first place. It's weird. I'll be scanning people's faces, and they'll look anywhere except back at me.

Now if I'm already on a date, or meeting with someone, or chatting with a friend, it's no big. Then the eye contact is free and frequent. But it's tough to gauge a girl's reaction to your eye contact, smile, and overall body language when she won't look in your direction in the first place.

Do I just live in a city full of socially awkward penguins, or what?
