First of all, like all rules, some are meant to be broken. Seduction is not a science, or else every guy would study it and become a fucking Ph.D. There's no secret formula or trick, as everyone is different.
However, after reading Seddit for a little over a year, my "game" has drastically improved and I'd like to share the simple things I do every day that help me.
First of all, dress nice. Never underestimate how much clothes reflect who you are. The moment I started dressing a little bit nicer than all of the other guys around me, the looks from girls started flying towards me. I'm not saying go out and buy expensive clothes or wear a suit every day, but make an effort and show that you do care about your appearance. This includes brushing your teeth and combing your hair.
Next, eye contact. Always take the opportunity to exchange a glance with the cutie across the room. Don't stare, but when she notices you looking, smile. Either a) she'll smile back and you look away after she does, or b) she'll glance, look away and once again you look away. Leave it at that. You just made a positive impression on someone.
Hit the gym. You don't have to get jacked, you don't have to go there to pick up ladies, but like dressing well, your fitness reflects who you are. Take care of yourself, eat right, and run a mile every now and then. There's a sweet Nike running app that will play music while you run and track your distance. Exercising will make you feel better, I promise. I used to make excuses as to why I wouldn't go, and the first few times I went I was REALLY sore - but in the end you get into a routine and it's absolutely worth it.
Be comfortable being alone. Go to a coffee shop and do some work, look around, observe how people interact. At this point, they're probably more awkward than you think. People are generally awkward. I don't know why, but it's true. Nobody's perfect, and life isn't a Hollywood movie.
Get a hobby. If you like photography, get an entry level DSLR and a "for dummies" book to learn the basics. If you like guitar, learn something other than Wonderwall. Either way, it's just another way to better yourself.
Read. I think print material is a dying breed. It sucks, because it's an industry I'm really interested in. Get a kindle, get some books, see life through someone else's perspective. Finding the time to read was hard for me, but I made it something I "wanted" to do. I find myself buying books I plan to read later, I have a full shelf of unread books. I'll get to them eventually.
Work hard. Whether you're in college, even high school, or a professional in your industry - strive to be the best. People will eventually notice, whether it's your coworkers, boss, subordinates, etc. When you show that you're passionate about what you're doing at work, it can turn on a switch in other people's heads that they should be too. All of a sudden you become an unspoken leader, and people come to you for advice, help, etc. Don't be shy, they look up to you after a while.
Be genuine. There's no need to lie to anyone, manipulate, or steal. Even if you have different values or opinions than people, stick to yours and people will respect it. Did that girl just call you weird for studying interior design? Fuck it, you have good taste. Tell her, "I guess I just like classy things." OWN IT.
You may notice that most of these have nothing to do with picking up chicks, but rather making yourself a better person. Well, surprise. That's the first REAL step to being successful with other people - ladies or other guys. Trust me. Everyone likes a good person who truly strives to take care of themselves and others. Think of someone you know, friend, colleague, who really makes an effort. They're good people who you want to be around. Be that guy.
TL;DR Make yourself comfortable in your own skin. It's the first step to be comfortable around anyone else.
