My friend opened a set so I jumped in. His girl asked me if I met any cute girls and I respond with "actually I'm gay" sarcastically. Her gay friend jumps off the wall he was leaning on and says "me too!". I had to flirt with some gay guy while my buddy makes out with a hot Asian girl.

A true wingman has to be ready to bite the bullet and walk/take a cab home for his bro. Case in point.

Turns out the best wingman I ever had was my dad. This truly stunning girl was working in this saddle shop and I was striking out with the girl.

My dad walks to the counter and chats it up with the girl. He introduces me has his son the rodeo champ. I act all embarrassed and stress that it was amateur.

Talk to the girl for maybe 5 minutes and look around gor my dad who simply vanished. Get a text from him saying he's on his way home in a cab and to saddle that mare.

TL;DR Dad took a cab home so I could get the girl.

Honestly, the best thing a wingman can do is push you into any set, force you to talk to any girl, have good energy, be positive, fuck around and not care about anything in the world. Laugh at all your jokes, always make you look good and always frame it so that if things go stale the problem lies with them (assuming your wingman already has at least as high status as you - imagine if Robbie Williams and Tom Cruise were in a club, and Tom Cruise just delivered the lamest joke ever, if Robbie Williams thought it was funny, it's very likely people would at least pretend they thought it was funny, too, because RW and TC are so high-status).

There is a ton to say about this matter. I am writing a series on wing man game but here are some of the basics:

(1) Encourage/Do not discourage. Note that this INCLUDES describing ANY girl as ugly or not worthy of an approach. This is a MAJOR issue with most wingmen that they do without even realizing. By insulting the appearance of a woman they make the other guy self conscious about WHO he approaches. Definitely not helpful.

(2) Pay attention to physical positioning -- be sure you are not boxing out your wingman (and vice versa) from being able to engage their target.

(3) Don't be afraid to switch girls -- you do not have to commit to the girl you first started talking to. If it's obvious that your wing would do better with her (and/or vice versa). SWITCH! IT is almost NEVER too late.

(4) If your wing is getting blown out and you aren't, escalate the close. Eventually, you will be dragged down, so you need to speed up escalation in this (quite common) situation.

Can I just say, I brought my mom out to the bar and the club with me last weekend and girls would not stop coming over. We would go out and dance, and my mom had no fear in dancing with these very attractive women, and then they'd want to come over to the table. Really ridiculously awesome wing woman when the goal of bringing her was just to get her out of the house and spend some time together.

I'm known as a king wingman among my social circle. I'll post a few things later, but a little story will have to do for now.

My friend has been kinda dating this girl for a month now. She likes him, he knows it, but he doesn't want to make a move. We were out in our local bar for Halloween and so was she. I do my usual thing of talking to her friends and stuff, but eventually he manages to isolate her. Kinda. I was there too for some reason (he was retelling this to me the day after). Eventually I just leaned in, dressed as a catholic priest an said "kiss her. Dave, Dave, kiss her. You should kiss her. Do it. Do it now"

It worked

Oh man. My best friend is not the most handsome guy and he had a big crush on a taller woman with blue eyes and blond hair. She is really cheerful and he was kinda the depressing guy. At that time we were studying for our state examinations. Me as a teacher and he as a doctor... Yeah Germany is strange... But back to my story... Normally I would hit the bars with my friend... However this gal was something special. So I decided to go the gentleman's way by inviting her to a dancing class in which I flirted with her best friend just to isolate her. It was hell to convince him to dance with her and give him a crash course how to deal with women as a gentleman. I also went to normal date with her best friend so that I know more about my best friend's crush. Got to know that his crush loves cats... So me and my best friend wrote funny poems about cats and I was his Cyrano De Bergerac. Additionally I told him about her longing for a normal family cause hers is fucked up... His family is great and so he invited her for a weekend at his parents home... Yeah fuck... Just not to screw that shit I never tried to close her best friend. The reason was that I did not want to fuck up his chances... Because I thought it would be easier for me to find new gals and she was for real his big love. In the end he married her because she loves his romantic side and I fell in love with her best friend. Now she is marrying too... So you see I sacrificied a lot and in the end he did not even take me as his best man. ;(

Maybe it would be too awkward if she knows that it was me and not him conquering her heart. And if she knew that I gave up on her best friend just for their sake that would be too much to deal with.

Sorry for the long text... It is just one of my best wingman actions but also the most heartbreaking one. I still date a lot but sometimes I think having a great relationship like my best friend is better than just picking up girls and not finding the right woman.

PS: They only had their civil marriage yet and in September there is a bigger party. Dunno whether I should join the wedding.

Generally when I wingman, I ask my buddy whom he wants to talk to and force his hand by walking in that person's general direction immediately. If we're dealing with a group, and he has singled one out, I address a different girl, and position myself so he can naturally stand next to me either across or next to his target.

I also introduce my buddy first unless they take forever to get over to me.

from there it really depends on the person, I have some more confident buddies that I just back up by chiming in at certain points, or helping them isolate their target.

some of my buddies are not so socially graceful, in that case I usually prompt conversations they can partake in, and keep attention steered at them.

in some rare cases, I'll be explicit with the person's target just straight "my friend is into you"

this only happens if I know they are interested in my buddy, but he is just being too shy about it. It's amazing how even the biggest wall flower will light up if a girl talks to them and is obviously interested.

Another piece of advice, I consider myself somewhat responsible as a wingman for how much my buddy drinks. Especially the shy one's, nothing ruins a good night more than getting shit-faced.

Generally the best way to wingman is to get things started with whomever your buddy is looking at.

Rookie mistake for the n00b wingman:

Don't pass on a girl to your friend. I'm saying, don't do what my friends do and what I did was have this great opener, get them laughing, while your friend is waiting for the introduction, and then say, "Oh, this is my friend, ....." It's never worked out for friends that are less enthusiastic than you are in the situation and not in state. And it's not fair for them either.

Let your friend shine too.

Learn how to give a good introduction. Start with "I want you to meet my friend name..." and then say something about what makes your friend unique and talented. This helps you out as well, because it shows that you surround yourself with successful people.

Always take the fugly for your friend. That's the golden rule. Fuglies are fun because they're not used to being hit on an answer awkwardly. The hot friend feels undermined because usually she's the one getting hit on. That's the perfect moment for your friend to come in. Besides, fuglies always seem to be more grateful to being hit on. I love hitting on fuglies.
