I'm a bit curious how you help people and reason with them to go with the conventional advice here that people give to revamp their lives; dress better, eat better, go to the gym, and pick up hobbies.

I'm playing devils advocate here because the dress better and pick up hobbies part are what are really hard for people to take in and rationalize with the people you're trying to help.

Let's just say, I'm at the point where I'm more concerned with helping my friends improve themselves rather than myself at the moment. However, trying to reason with them can be difficult.

There's the argument of "looks don't matter, I dress fine." I agree. However, I'd argue looks DO matter because first impressions are important but not paramount. This is to say not to deck out in Holister, Versace, or Giorgio Armani.

I suppose I'm thinking and theorizing why we endorse going by your own style, yet saying you enjoy Dungeons and Dragons, enjoying your own introverted hobbies at home, and shopping at Hot Topic would get some frowns here.

This is more food for thought.
