Try to not think of it as a double standard but more of as a gender specific role. Gender roles have been in effect for as long as we have been a species. People can bitch and moan about it but it won't change things.

Unfortunately, our culture has all but extinguished the ability to have this kind of bro anymore with all the satire and negative stigmas associated with "bromances" and thus we're forced to just hold it in.

My recommendation - go for a drive. Just get in your car and take off. Go for an hour out into some remote park or coastal hangout and just stare at the ocean. Run an internal dialogue where you talk out your problems with yourself. But the only way this works is if you're brutally honest with yourself. Others may believe your bullshit, but you don't - you know it's bullshit. So just sit down, have a heart to heart with your inner thoughts and work the problem on your own.

You ever wonder why people say "man up" and shit like that. Which I hate hearing since half the time it's just a way to tell someone to endure something they don't have any reason/need to so in the first place.

It's because as men we are the ones who endure things, who need to be able to take the hit physically/mentally/emotionally/etc and not let it break your frame while making decisions on how you will deal with just happened. If you need someone to talk to/complain to/bitch at find a guy buddy and talk, if he's worth anything you'll get actual advice instead of "oh im so sorry" BS you'd get from most females.

People who try to get rid of double standards are just plain idiotic. There are standards for everything. Nothing is glazed over. There's a standard for handling dogs, and then there is one for cats.

There's a standard for vacationing, and then there is one for just not giving a fuck.

this is why i quickly lost interest for men's rights forums after it became trendy to complain about the fact that men must be held to more rigorous emotional standards than women are. that's just how it is and always will be. you can't "re-educate" men and women to completely ignore their social instincts. weak, pussified men who do not have a hadnle on their emotions will always be seen as lesser by all except their mothers, and you either accept it and play the game or give up and buy a lifetime WOW membership.

Slip up once and she loses attraction to you forever. Women are impossible to please, so don't bother trying. Ironically women find that more attractive. And they wonder why they are attracted to men who don't treat them with respect.

My recommendation is that instead of whinging about it to dad, call out your next girl on this bullshit double standard. If she doesn't agree kick her to the curb, she's just another plate.
