You've finally done it! You managed to get a girl interested in at least some tiny part of your mostly boring personality. Kidding of course, I'm sure you're a true catch. But now what the heck are you supposed to do to keep her interested and not lose the new love of your life (she is the ONE after all, right?). Well I'm here to guide you through those tough and incredibly important first few dates.
The dates you setup should follow a basic pattern intended to build a close bond relatively quickly. After your third date, she should be longing for her phone to ring (you know, in case her ex decides to call her back). But seriously, it's really easy, just follow this simple pattern:
First date: This should be used to get to know each other. Take her someplace where the two of you can just relax, talk, and focus on each other. Also don't ask to pick her up at her place, that's just creepy. A bad example would be going to see a movie. In fact, a movie is a terrible idea for any of the first few dates. A really good idea for the first date is a local café or bakery -- someplace unique and cute. Go get some cupcakes or have fun putting gummy bears on some frozen yogurt, as long as you can talk to each other while you enjoy your treats. This is also where you may find out that the two of you are not compatible -- and that's is OK because it didn't take some expensive or elaborate date to figure that out.
Let's take a quick break and talk about basic etiquette for a second. When you first see each other you should definitely give her a hug. Try to avoid your normal creepy self and don't linger too long. But also don't pat her back like you are being forced to hug some stranger that you barely know. Tell her how nice it is to finally meet her and then continue on with the date. You should also complement her, but not on something physical. Tell her how nice that dress is or how much you like her earrings. After the date is over the one thing you don't want to do is regress. If you started the date with a hug then you should at least end with one. You don't necessarily have to go for a kiss at this moment, and it is definitely better to wait if you are nervous about it. After all of these first few dates you should follow up with a text message about 15 minutes after it ends. Tell her how much fun you had and maybe make a joke in reference to something you were talking about earlier.
Second date: This should be something fun. Some activity which you both can enjoy. I would recommend going ice skating, bowling, or taking a trip to a nearby zoo (yes that place with the all those cute animals). This is where you should try to make some physical contact. For example, if you are ice skating and notice her almost falling you can reach out your hand and say it's just in case she falls. And then just skate around the rink holding her hand and pray she falls (because if you manage to catch her then it's huge bonus points of course). You should try to land a kiss after the second date, even if it's just on the cheek.
Third date: This should be something a little romantic. And I'm not talking about taking her to some fancy dimly lit restaurant. You are better than that and you need to prove it to her. If the weather is nice why don't you setup a picnic at a local park. Get a blanket to lay down on and some finger foods. Slices of cheese and pepperoni, fresh strawberries, frozen grapes (the red ones obviously), sliced watermelon, and maybe even some sliced turkey or beef sticks. Don't forgot to bring some drinks as well (no not booze). And finish it off with a hand crafted playlist playing through your fancy Bluetooth speaker. She will be amazed at how much thought and effort you put into the date. If the weather isn't very good then maybe find a local dance studio offering free or cheap dance sessions. There is usually a good amount of people that show up to those events and often times they have lessons beforehand as well (which let's face it, you desperately need). You can have fun making fun of yourself and your two left feet. You may also try inviting her to your place for dinner and a movie (you can cook, right?). Cook her dinner and follow up with a movie that is somewhat romantic. No it doesn't have to be chic flick. During the movie you can reach over and hold her hand and when the movie ends you should both know that it's makeout time!
Dating doesn't have to always end in disaster. Just make sure to stand out as someone who is interesting by not always choosing the obvious and boring dates. But above all just be yourself and try to have fun. Good luck!
