If its literally non-stop and as unfunny as the example, then yeah ditch him. But honestly my friends and I will insult/try to embarass each other all the time, its just a playful thing and its really not hard to deal with.

Amplifying whatever the insult was to the point of ridiculousness is the easiest comeback. In this case look at the waitress, smile and say 'Yep, I'm a special one, barely allowed out without my helmet'

Easy way out is short, intense eye contact with the guy and overbearing smile. If he laughs awkwardly he's been deframed, and will hesitate to do it again. Only works if he's insecure, but in my experience most people who say shit like that in the wrong contexts are.

The right answer is everything you read here.

If you just want a quick fix, say, 'haha, good one buddy! You really got me!' The aggressor will feel stupid, and you will have said nothing insulting to continue the conflict. This is a tried and true line, so you have no reason to fear acting the Guinea pig. What's more, it demonstrates your ability to rise above, as everyone else is saying you ought to.

This is coming from a victim mentality. Yes, your friend is being a dick. But look at it as, "I'm letting him emasculate me". This mindset gives you the power to keep your own frame because you're viewing it as something you can control. You're viewing it as something you change, rather than "they're doing it to me".

But to answer your question, you don't. 99% of the time, "dealing with it" still means playing their game.

You either just sit them down and have a real talk about it, or just don't have them as a friend. If you can't go away from them (e.g. same social circle), then just ignore them. Develop emotional fortitude so minor shit ike this doesn't bother you.
