I've lived in a small city or suburban area for most of my life, and have gone on my fair share of dates. When I was in college in a small-medium sized city, I rarely ever got flakes either when setting up dates with girls from online or real life. Similarly, when I lived in a suburban area for a few months after graduating, I pretty much never had girls flake on me.
I recently moved to a big city (NYC), and holy shit, I've had over 5 girls flake on me already. Most of them were from online, and one I met in person. It all ended up the same way -- we'd agree on a time/place for a date, and they'd tell me "something came up" the day before/day of, and never talk to me again. Hell, the last 2 girls I've had this happen to cancelled just an hour or two after confirming the date. For example:
Me - See you at 6 tomorrow
Her - Yup, see you soon :)
--An hour later--
Her -- Hey, sorry something came up and I can't make it tomorrow! Stops responding
Now, I bet this is because they met a different guy before our date. But my question is, how the fuck do I pull girls in a big city if they all bail the moment someone better comes along? Am I stuck with having to do one night stands to get laid? Or maybe I'm just having an unlucky streak?
