Anything is better than buying her a drink. You can go Richard Feynman, "If I buy you a drink, will you sleep with me?" or more subtly "I only buy drinks to my girlfriends, do you want to be my girlfriend"? You can ask her to buy the first round and say you'll buy the next. You can just tell her to buy YOU a drink, period.

The only problem with just saying no is that you're missing an opportunity to practice.

As a slight twist on this, what about buying an underage girl a drink when she provides the money? This happens quite often in my college town, I usually allow it and try to escalate but I would like to know what the rest of trp thinks.

See it for what it is, an opportunity to show your value. If you say "Yes", you're showing you have no value and have to pay her to talk to you. If you say "No", you're showing that your value is high and you have no need to entice women to talk to you.

Beyond saying "No", you can turn it into a playful interaction to actually entice her further. But the key is, always, always say "No".

Either straight up "no" with a humorous is that a joke tone, or "nah, gotta earn it" to which you can leave it at that or get her to do something simple like dance with you for a couple of minutes or something fun. Its basicly a shit test that can be used to lead to other things.
