I am a 21 year old guy attending a large state university. I have many good friends and I also play in a fairly successful local band. In a lot of respects my life is good. However, there is one aspect of it that I have aspired to get rid of for years to no avail. To this day I have never had a serious girlfriend, and I remain a virgin. No matter what I have thrown at it, this problem has absolutely refused to die.

Every time I have met a girl, things have always followed the same pattern. Initially she is very interested in me, but after she even begins to get to know me she decides that I am not worth her time. My theory is that I come across as inherently insecure and inexperienced, and no woman wants to deal with either of those things. Most of the time, they've only been around about a week before they run off with somebody else instead. I guess I am at the age where everyone is expected to know these things already, and here I am left in the dust. More and more, my dream of finally having a girlfriend and losing my virginity is fading. I find my situation beyond heartbreaking and frustrating, and I simply cannot take much more of this.

From the age of 19, I began to take action to solve this problem of mine, knowing that soon it would be too late, that I would soon reach the age where it is impossible to recover. Now, at 21, I fear I have already reached it. All this time reading this sub, using dating sites, fighting tooth and nail so that maybe one day I could have a love life has all been for nothing! My confidence is dead, any initial enthusiasm to finally end this vicious cycle is long gone. Part of me wants to continue, but I feel the damage has already been done. This past year has been my last stand, my final desperate act to achieve what I have sought after for so long. Now, I see it all as futile. Have any one of you ever broken free of something like this, from the brink of total defeat, when all hope is seemingly lost? For the love of God somebody please help me, I'm on my last legs.
