To initiate an approach I would first try a non-verbal approach and single out one from the herd make eye contact, hold up my drink in a 'cheer' and gauge her reaction.

It's a tough situation but you basically have to flirt with both girls at the same time. Make sure her friend is comfortable with you being alone with her. There are loads of videos on how to do this.

You should look into a wingman though
